This is something different for me. I gotta say I love the blanket and the texture it gives a conversion. I plan take photos of my two other kids using this blanket.

down with grey

This picture was taken in Virginia back in October. I never paid much attention to it because it’s of me. I tend to delete or hide such photos.
Tonight I opened it and to my dismay(you know the Beastie Boys just popped in your head) I notice a patch of hair. Not just any hair but the dreaded grey hair. When did I get this old? I can’t believe I am going grey already. Good thing I went back to a more natural hair color. I may never go red again, grey just doesn’t blend as well.

Digging myself out of a funk and a mountian of laundry

Monday, January 29, 2007

Being sad and depressed is not for me. It’s just not my thing. I can usually have a good cry and get on with my life. Lately that isn’t so. I would cry and still feel like crying some more. I was on the edge of tears for days. Every little thing would set me off. But yesterday was the day that turned it all around.
We had the kids out front playing, it was too beautiful out to stay in unlike the last few weeks of bitter cold weather. Then the neighbors started to wander out, soon our driveway was filled with boys playing hockey and our neighbors lawn was full of giggley girls. Us parents gathered together talking, enjoying an adult beverage and watching our children be children. It was what I had been missing. I didn’t realize this untill coming in and putting the kids to bed. I felt happy again. There was no struggles at bedtime and I was happy to be me again.
Last night was extra special for the neighborhood. The ederly couple on the street had pizza delivered and the pizza guy stopped in front of our house and let us shovel all the snow out of his truuck. It was a good size pile. The kids in flip flops, sundresses and shorts went wild. So pizza guy, thank you for giving us your snow. You didn’t have to do that but you did and brought such happiness to our street.

OH!! We also had the police called out to our street AGAIN. These grumpy old people(different couple) think they live in Sun City or something. A cop turned the corner and stopped in front our house. He asked if we thought our “CHILDREN AT PLAY” sign was a traffic hazard. We said no and his response was “neither do I” and proceeded to tell us that someone called and complained about our sign. We told him we knew who it was and pointed him in the right direction.
He drove up the street and on his way back he stopped again. Said he gave her an earful and she then said that she was concerned because there isn’t any parents out. He laughed and told her that there was at least six parents out when he drove by. Let me stop you here………There are many children on this street, the oldest being 13 and youngest 6 months. There is never not at least one adult out there with them. Even when the 13 year old is out, so is his mom or dad. So this woman that has a liscense plate that reads “TWO WORDS” and speeds up when she sees our sign tried to change her story after realizing that the police support and encourage us parents to make drivers aware that there is children out playing. We were in disbelief that she would stoop that low and actually call the police because she has to slow down when driving on a street full of children being children. Last time she got annoyed by our sign her husband walked by and said “let me see how far I can kick your sign” Can you believe that? First off, they bought a house in a neighborhood right across from a elementary school. If they don’t like children this may have been the stupidest thing they could of done. And second, they don’t even have to drive up our street to get to their house. They can just as easily go down the next street over.

T and J and JJ's arm on TV during the hockey game.

How cool is that? That’s my baby banging on the glass. He went to the game with Mr. Fun and JJ. The boys and I tuned in to watch and this is what we see.

What good is a Friday night……

Friday, January 26, 2007

We have to be out of the house by 7:45AM on Saturday for team photos? Seriously who thinks that’s okay? Not me. This means we have to be up and out of the house before we have to be on school days. That ain’t right. I am not sure they understand how badly I think this sucks. I don’t think they have met my four year old who sleeps untill 7:30 or 8:00 AM every morning. I don’t think they realize that I have four kids and I enjoy my lazy Saturday mornings spent sipping coffee slowly instead of chugging it inbetween fixing lunches and breakfast(yes,it is all about me right now). Then chugging some more inbetween hair do’s and teeth brushing. There will be no sipping coffee tomorrow. There will only be chugging trying to get uniforms on and hats found. Yes, i know where the hats are tonight but somehow those boys will lose them from the time they wake to the time I am rushing them out the door.

So my public announcement to you is as follows………

If you arrange for team photos to be taken, PLEASE and I repeat PLEASE do not schedule the tiny ones at eight freaking o’clock in the morning. It’s a bad idea all around.

Tsig2

You came into this family as an unexpected surprise. I remember the day we brought you home. Everyone wanted to hold you. It’s my turn, I want a turn.
You had your days and nights mixed up and I remember thinking I wasn’t going to get through one more night. I couldn’t spend another night of you up and curious about your new home. That night you slept, I have never been so grateful. Thank you little dude.
As time passed you grew and in that time we bonded with you. Now we can’t imagine life without you. You keep us laughing. Your newest setence is “I went poopoo in my my pants” You also say “Thanks Mama” after I change you. When you want something it’s “Please Mama”. We are all so in love with you. You light this house up with your giggles.
You love to play hockey and baseball. You call your brothers “the boys” and your sister is “jenny” she hates that but I still see her face light up when you say “please jenny”. Pancakes are “cakes” and cake is “happy”. Waffles are “wawa” and water is “water”. You call your toes “piggies” and pigs “oinks”. You won’t eat fruit right now to save your life. You claim its “yucky” before you taste it. You love salad and say it’s “nummy”. When you say Star Wars it sounds like “Dora”, all your Star Wars figures are referred to as “my guys” and you make them shoot their guns with the cutest little sound effect. And when they fall they also have a cute AAAAHHhhh sound effect.
When daddy comes home you run to him yelling “daddy home daddy home” yet you always want mama to do everything for you and cry when I leave you. You get excited when it’s time to get Wy from school and you scream out “Yay, get Wy he play hockey with me”. My heart melts to see the relationship between your brothers and sister blossom.
Thank you for being you. Happy 2nd Birthday T butt, We love you.

I didn’t know lesbians could get tickets

Saturday, January 20, 2007

Driving home we spotted a jay walker (major pet peeve of mine). G said “she should go to jail.” I explained that she would just get a ticket. JJ then says ” I didn’t know lesbians could get tickets” I said “WHAT?” holding in my laughter. She repeats “I didn’t know lesbians could get tickets” after a few moments of silence she yells “pedestrians,I mean pedestrians”. Oh how I laughed. I asked her if she knew what a lesbian was and she said no but didn’t ask what it was either.
